Oxford BOP Samba

Oxford "Breach of the Peace" is part of the Rhythms of Resistance network of anticapitalist Samba Drum Bands.

Inspired by Rhythms of Resistance London, Oxford BOP Samba started in 2003 during the British No War on Iraq campaigns. Originally an ad-hoc junk band, BOP now has a full set of drums and meets regularly every Friday night from 6.30–8.30pm at Oxford's South Oxford Community Centre in Lake Street.

They have played in many local demonstrations, including Save the NHS, protests at RAF Brize Norton and the regular Close the Campsfield Detention Centre demos. They also join up with other bands in the Rhythms of Resistance network to play at national demos and events including the Stop Climate Chaos rally, Stop the War Coalition marches, anti-G8 demonstrations and the Stop the DSEi Arms Fair campaign.

BOP Samba subscribes to the Peoples' Global Action Hallmarks.
