[edit] Deletion tagging spree
You've tagged a large number of legit articles as db-spam, and some of them have been deleted wrongly. An article is only spam if it is written in a blatantly advertorial tone. I have blocked you as a preventive measure and will remove it as soon as you confirm that you understand the difference and will cease tagging valid articles. FCYTravis 06:42, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Inconsistent Policies
Let me clarify why I was marking things as spam. This morning I created a software stub article for a product I use. It was marked as spam within 10 minutes of me creating it. I contested the mark, stating that it was no different than dozens of other software stub articles, it wasn't advertorial in any sense. An administrator told me that, too bad, it was spam, and that the others were as well and should be deleted. So I decided to help out in pruning the articles. I looked for things that were very similar to the article I created. They were short, had no attribution, and only promoted a company, project, or person. Several administrators must have agreed with me, since all of the ones I tagged were deleted. That is until you came on the scene with different ideas of how things should be run.
Forget it, if you guys can't keep consistent, I guess you don't want my help. Owski 06:55, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- If you disagree with the deletion of an article, feel free to take that decision to WP:DRV - our deletion review process. What is the article in question? (You have been unblocked, by the way.) FCYTravis 06:57, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, sorry I was a little snippy. I got a bit cheesed off when my first tentative forray into Wikipedia was stomped on (the editor was a bit rude when he attacked my article), and then when I changed tack I got stopped again. It's cool, you're just doing your job.
The article in question is Admin Arsenal. I noticed that it didn't have an article and I wanted to use it for my first Wikipedia content. I don't really care much about it, I just wanted to get involved in some way. I'll keep looking around for something productive to do. Owski 07:05, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- It's easy to get cheesed off when you are new to Wikipedia. Wikipedia seems straight forward, but it is a rather detailed system filled with numerous policies, guidelines, and a bunch of other things that seem to hammer away at you until you get more familiar with the process. For example, what you were doing may be covered by WP:Point and your reason for doing it may be covered by What about article x?. It typically takes about three months on Wikipedia before you can say, OK, I get it. If you need help, please feel free to ask me. -- Jreferee 04:42, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
