Ovidiopol

Ovidiopol (Ukrainian: Овідіополь, translit.: Ovidiopol; Russian: Овидиополь, translit.: Ovidiopol' ; Turkish: Hacıdere (formerly) is a coastal town in Odessa Oblast, Ukraine. It is located at around 46°16′0″N, 30°25′60″E.

The town was named after Ovid, the Roman poet, based on the claim of Dimitrie Cantemir in his Descriptio Moldaviae that a local lake near Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi (probably the Dniester Liman itself) was named in Romanian Lacul Ovidului (Ovid's Lake).
