Over Ashes

Over Ashes is an American Christian rock band from Nashville, TN. Originally including founding members of Cross Culture, this Christian band plays numerous shows and festivals. Since their debut in March 2007, Over Ashes current single "Where I Want To Be" is going for adds to Christian Radio. Their debut album Begin Again was released on 17 July 2007, and has sold over 23,000 units to date. According to Soundscan.

  • Over Ashes was the featured artist on the Internet magazine Awoe Magazine and announced by the bands Myspace page on April 20th, 2007, that they're the featured artist on Christian retail store www.cm1stop.net.
  • It has been rumored that Over Ashes is currently writing for a new album to be released in 2009 with Caleb Carpenter making his singing debut with Over Ashes. Scott Campbell of the christian band Mainstay is rumored to be the producer for some of the album, with no other producers being named.
  • The Christian Pulse did an Artist spotlight on Over Ashes and said "These guys can Rock your face off".
  • Over Ashes debuted in the Billboard Hot 100 at number 15. In October 2007 Over Ashes announced they signed with Bridgestreet Artist Agency for booking.

  • Dan Harrass from Cross Culture was in Over Ashes at the time Begin Again was recorded, but left Over Ashes shortly after recording.
  • Lee Klopfenstein was the touring bass player in the spring of 2007, and was replaced by Gardy Garcia in April 2007.
  • Justin York played all the guitars on Begin Again, but was never an official member of Over Ashes.
  • Justin Glasco played drums on the song "Where I Want To Be".
  • Justin David resigned from Over Ashes in October, 2007.
  • Denver Shindle was released from band, according to the bands MySpace.

[edit] Meaning of the name

  • The name Over Ashes comes from the Bible in Isaiah 61:3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his glory.

  • Caleb Carpenter was in a band called Anchor 28, before leaving Anchor 28, to fill the spot of Lead Singer and Guitarist for Over Ashes.
  • Gardy Garcia has a side project called tigerparty and it was announced on tigerparty's MySpace page that Tiger Party will be releasing a full length cd in 2009 on SouthPawl Records.
