[edit] Feedback/bugs
- If the script is already reading the talk page, why can't it show the names of all templates with a class= inside? (I'm not saying that it has to display WP:WPTC for {{hurricane}}; but if it displayed {{hurricane}}, it would suffice for most purposes. Titoxd(?!? - cool stuff) 06:06, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

- Can you give me more detail on what you mean? You would like to see the rating of every project with a rating on the talk page? Or do you mean that the dropdown box should contain all project templates already on the talk page? Or.... –Outriggr § 06:31, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- The first one. Contain a few basic ones on the talk page (such as the ones that are currently present on the drop-down box), but if there are any WikiProject templates with an assessment parameter currently present, then add them to the drop-down box. That would be really helpful to modify assessments. WikiProject banners without assessment parameters, or undefined assessment parameters, can be left out. [edit] WPBiography template
[edit] Present script
This is a great idea. 200 assessments takes me about three hours and your script seems like I could cut that time in half. I loaded metadatatest.js and defaultProject = "WPBiography" in my monobook.js, went to Bob Barber, found the pull down, selected stub. This brought me to the article talk page, which now had the temporary Preview message "Sorry! We could not process your edit due to a loss of session data. Please try again. If it still doesn't work, try logging out and logging back in." I then hit save and the article was assessed. I then went to Bob Casale, found the pull down, and selected stub. This also brought me to the article talk page, which now had the temporary Preview message "Sorry! We could not process your edit due to a loss of session data. Please try again. If it still doesn't work, try logging out and logging back in." I then hit save and the article was assessed. Is it your intent to have that Preview message appear? Also, the Bob Barber article still says "An unassessed article from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" on the face of the article under the article name. Also, I think that you do not need to list GA and A assessments because these usually take more than one person making the assessment and usually come along with comments for improvements. Also, the script change to the talk page checks the minor change box. I'm not sure that an assessment is a minor change. -- Jreferee 18:21, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

- It's not my intent to have the Preview/"Sorry" message appear, but at present it's unavoidable but harmless. In earlier versions of my experimenting, it was a problem - a lack of parameters made Wikipedia believe an edit conflict was occurring so one could never save the page. I will add another flag, as with defaultProject, that makes an assessment change non-minor. The problem with not seeing an updated assessment on the article page is due to page caching. Not my area of expertise, but you can likely refresh the page to see it update. –Outriggr § 08:31, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- OK. Another issue - the edit summary is too long. Right now it reads something like (Assessed at "start" for {{WPBiography}} using Beta-version article-page article assessment) (top). This takes up two lines on a User Contribution page. Perhaps the edit summary can be shorten to only take up one line (e.g. ( {{WPBiography}} "start" assessed via Beta assessment from article page) (top)). -- Jreferee 15:42, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

- One thing - the script does create talk page, which I wasn't sure of, but it appears to duplicate the WPBio template on occasion, adding an extra template. Also, is there any chance it could check for some kind of infobox coding and place that in the template added? Excellent script though, very fast assessment. RHB Talk - Edits 23:12, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi RHB. As per below, I'll look at more WPBiography-specific options. If the WPBio template is being duplicated, please provide examples of articles where this would occur! Thanks.
- Your script is better now, just needs a few more tweaks and it'll be perfect. First I think the template should all be on the line with all spacings removed, as that's how Jreferee and Cgilbert76 (and me) prefer it. Second, I think the living drop-down should be moved between the template and priority menus, just to keep things organized as that's the order they appear in the template. Thirdly, I don't think adding the small parameter is necessary (rarely used). Fourthly, drop-downs (or checkboxes) for needs-infobox and needs-photo would be nice. Checkboxes would be better because then you could add the small, attention and activepol parameters as well. And lastly, a N/A option should be added to the living drop-down, where it wouldn't add any "living=" parameter (for instances where living doesn't apply, eg. bands). That's it for now, happy coding. - kollision 05:07, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Script dedicated to WPBiography parameters
I’ve tagged about 600 articles (without your script) and have determined that the following parameter answers are all that is needed for most unassessed biography article: |living = yes no|class = B, Start, Stub|needs-infobox = yes|activepol = yes |a&e-work-group = yes |politician-work-group = yes |military-work-group = yes|sports-work-group = yes |s&a-work-group = yes |musician-work-group = yes|listas = |needs-photo = yes. Instead of one script for several projects, is it possible to create a WPBiography template script that provides the yes/no, B, Start, Stub, and yes parameter choices and that also fills in the listas parameter? -- Jreferee 18:37, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- Took me some fanagling, but I go it to work as well. While it would be awesome to have some of the extra parameters (living, needs photo, etc.), I imagine they can be added later. For now we can at least focus getting them assessed and then sweeping back through and appropriately assessing them for living/needs photo/which work group, etc. Thank you for this excellent script! --Ozgod 01:37, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi Outriggr. I can make your task even easier. The bulk of the 130,000+ unassessed WPBiography templates have only six answers:
- SPORTS, GAMES Start: {{WPBiography|living=yes|class=Start|needs-infobox=yes|sports-work-group=yes|listas=|needs-photo=yes}}
- SPORTS, GAMES Stub: {{WPBiography|living=yes|class=Stub|needs-infobox=yes|sports-work-group=yes|listas=|needs-photo=yes}}
- ACTOR, WRITER, DIRECTOR, ARTIST Start: {{WPBiography|living=yes|class=Start|needs-infobox=yes|a&e-work-group=yes|listas=|needs-photo=yes}}
- ACTOR, WRITER, DIRECTOR, ARTIST Stub: {{WPBiography|living=yes|class=Stub|needs-infobox=yes|a&e-work-group=yes|listas=|needs-photo=yes}}
- MUSICIAN, SINGER Start: {{WPBiography|living=yes|class=Start|needs-infobox=yes|a&e-work-group=yes|musician-work-group=yes|listas=|needs-photo=yes}}
- MUSICIAN, SINGER Stub: {{WPBiography|living=yes|class=Stub|needs-infobox=yes|a&e-work-group=yes|musician-work-group=yes|listas=|needs-photo=yes}}
Instead of presenting the choices of Stub Start B GA A for WPBiography on the article page, can you develop a script that will present each of the above six WPBiography strings on the article page? For the listas parameter, you can just repeat the article name twice with a comma and space between each name (e.g. Steve W. Smith, Steve W. Smith). We then only need to delete the bolded text from the listas string and we have the listas filled in (e.g., Smith, Steve W.). One last thing, the unassessed biography articles at Category:Unassessed_biography_articles are designed to open to the talk page when clicked on. Is it possible that your WPBiography script can cause these to open on the article page for whoever has the script installed? - Jreferee 16:04, 4 March 2007 (UTC) P.S., I called you our resident scientist here. I hope you don't mind. : ) -- Jreferee 16:26, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Have I missed the point, or doesn't my plugin already do this? --kingboyk 16:19, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Rather than tagging talk pages with one of the above six strings, I was under the impression that kingboyk tagged the talk pages with the string {{WPBiography|living=yes|class=|priority=}}. See, for example, [1] Also, I apologize for the comments by others on the drive talk page. The results of kingboyk's efforts are very useful and important to the Biography project. -- Jreferee 16:34, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- I am not familiar with Kingboyk's plugin (I've heard of it though), and I didn't go on a search for prior art before I made this. I'll never use AWB to assess articles (I'm not that into it), and I wanted to see if a javascript thingy would do the job, and if I could do it. –Outriggr § 23:08, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- My plugin will tag with whatever parameters it's told to tag with; on this run living=yes, but it can also do the workgroups, auto stub and so on, as well as tagging for other WikiProjects at the same time.[2] The edits you've observed are in bot mode. It can also be used in manual mode to assess articles, with a few clicks to choose the class and point out problems with the article. See [3]. --kingboyk 17:02, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well, the major advantage of the script is that it allows editors not using AWB similar functionality in assessing articles. Carom 19:59, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey Outriggr. This might sound weird but I was trying out your script and I thought it was awesome, but then when it came down to actually assessing articles I found it really hard because it didn't have all the Biography parameters and I would still have to edit the code after using your script... so I stole your code. Then I spent all night hacking it till finally I got want I wanted - a WPBiography script with the Living, Priority and Workgroup parameters included. Check it out at User talk:Kollision/bioassessment.js It's a total hack job since I don't actually know any Javascript. I've tested it out and it works good though. Full credit to you though, sorry I stole your code. - kollision 20:49, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

- If it works for you, what I'll do is steal some code back :), and generalize the code changes you made for WPBio back into this script. I would like to have only one script that supports all templates. I think it is a good idea to not have a bunch of different versions in use, so I hope other users can wait until Kollision's changes have been made here. –Outriggr § 23:08, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

- (reducing indent some) Outriggr, I would also prefer Kollision's additions (@Kollision: thanks a lot) being added to your script. I have tried a copy of User:Kollision/bioassessment.js pasted to my monobook.js, and it works for me too, execpt I noticed (only one time) that it did not put the closing brackets on Talk:King Curtis when it created a fresh WPBio banner there, it worked on an existing banner. Also, I would ask for the minor tweak that the priority flag dropdown menu is empty by default, just like the living's is. Setting a default work-group worked fine for me too, btw. P.S: When creating a fresh WPBio banner, I would wish for all non-drop-downable flags to be added without value, so that you already have them if you want to use them. My current copy of kollision's script does not add them. Cheers, BNutzer 00:15, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- I fixed the bracket bug and added some tweaks to my version of Outriggr's script. I've also added an extra dropdown menu for some extra parameters. For anyone who assesses WPBiography articles and want to try out my script, go to User talk:Kollision/bioassessment.js - kollision 10:03, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Double banner bug?
I have noticed (on Talk:Curtis Amy) that metadatatest.js added a new WPBiography banner although a plain {{WPBiography}} banner without any flags was already present on the talk page. Thanks for your script btw, it has finally let me take the leap from tagging to assessing ;) Cheers, BNutzer 17:13, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cosmetic (?) problem with line breaks/spaces in banner code
On Talk:Del Wood, an existing banner was changed, two of several line breaks were removed, listas was added without line break. Work group was re-set to same value, removing existing space. Class was set without space. Nevertheless, thanks for the new features. Autodetection rewlz. BNutzer 15:18, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- I should have the worst of the "cosmetic" template stuff fixed. I'm sure there will be other examples though. –Outriggr § 01:22, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] listas parameter: exclusions?
I think it would make sense to exclude articles from listas detection if the article name contains (text in brackets), digits or the "&" character. The word "and", enclosed by blanks, might be another candidate. Cheers, BNutzer 11:54, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- An existing comma in the article title could also be excluded mostly in my view. BNutzer 00:47, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- At this point listas will only fill in if the article title is two words, assuming a full name, reversing the order into lastname, firstname. Unfortunately I don't have access to the wiki code for the article page without doing another browser request, and I think this thing uses enough bandwidth. If I accessed the wiki code, I could get the proper sort for just about every article from the way the categories are sorted. The HTML doesn't have that. –Outriggr § 04:48, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Closing line break missing
I have noticed a few times that the WPBio template was added directly before the first text characters, e.g. on Talk:Fall Out Boy, outcome was
}}==Indie days?== --BNutzer 00:47, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- Still having trouble getting carriage returns to occur at the right places. For example, new parameters on an existing template tend to all go on the same line, although I thought I'd coded it otherwise. –Outriggr § 04:48, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- Think carriage returns work better now. –Outriggr § 03:18, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Selecting WPBiography stops the script from working
If I select WPBiography either manually or via defaultProject setting, I cannot access an article anymore. Other projects work (tested Album and Film). Firefox' javascript console states: Error: categoryText has no properties Source File: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3AOutriggr%2Fmetadatatest.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s Line: 164

[edit] listas problem with one word article names
If the article title is only one word, listas is auto-filled in as "listas=, word", e.g. Talk:Schweisser. BNutzer 13:02, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WP:Milhist Banner
Hey, the script probably doesn't need to add the descriptors for the B-class criteria in this banner (you can see what I mean at Talk:Andrew Snape Hamond. It's probably sufficient if it just add lines for the five criteria. Carom 05:57, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- Removed. By the way, at Talk:Hamond, did you remove the "stub" from WPBio manually in the second edit, or is this another script problem? (Looking at your edit history, I'm betting you're going to request to do two assessments at once. :) –Outriggr § 06:15, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking care of that! As to your question, I think it's a script problem, although I don't know if it happens with all banners, or just the MILHIST and BIO ones. And doing two assessments at once would be nice, but it's not neccessary, so don't worry about it too much. : ) Carom 06:39, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- I just reverted your second edit to try it again, and the script acted appropriately (it just added WPMILHIST). (Maybe you accidentally deleted the other "stub" class?) –Outriggr § 06:52, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- Possibly, I'll let you know if I encounter the problem again. Carom 14:28, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm still encountering this problem when I assess the article for WPBIO, then go back and assess for WPMILHIST. In the second edit, it doesn't retain the assessment for WPBIO (although this doesn't seem to affect ratings for other WikiProjects, if they are present).
- Also, would it possible to add another set of drop-down menus for the MILHIST banner, similar to what is know available for BIO? I'd like to be able to assign the article to the MILHIST task forces as well, if this is possible.
- This is a great tool, thanks for all your hard work! Carom 06:02, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- I can look at MILHIST parameters once things seem stable with the WPBio upgrade. Glad you like! –Outriggr § 01:22, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- (after edit conflict)There are (currently) 34 task forces - you can find the full list here - ideally, the script would give me the ability to add an article to task forces in the same way it allows me to add it to WPBIO workgroups. I don't think there are any other parameters that need to be added. There's no rush - any additions can wait until the BIO stuff is stable. Carom 01:31, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Do not assess/use the WikiProject priority parameter
The Template:WPBiography priority parameter has little to no application for the WPBiography project. Because of the scale of the Biography WikiProject, it was felt that assessing priority across the whole Project would be too much. Thus, the priority ratings only apply only to workgroups, not the Biography project. See the priority parameter usage at Template:WPBiography. Thus, unless you know whether and how the a&e-work-group, politician-work-group, royalty-work-group, military-work-group, sports-work-group, s&a-work-group, musician-work-group, and musician-work-group prioritizes their articles, you might want to avoid assessing the WikiProject priority parameter. You also might want to not use an incomplete "priority =" parameter in tagging since it may encourage others to use that parameter incorrectly to assess the WikiProject priority. -- Jreferee 17:45, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- Is the above addressed at me or users? Your explanation of Priority matches what I thought. So the question is, is it more appropriate to leave out the selection box for Priority in the next version? On the other hand, I would expect people doing the assessing to have some familiarity with the project they're assessing under. I'm also not clear on how you set a priority within a working group.
- I don't think I'll be able to please everyone with whatever set of WPBio parameters are included. What does that leave us with then, in terms of user-selectable dropdown options -- working group and living? You've mentioned needs-infobox, needs-photo, and listas. I wouldn't have thought these widely used either. –Outriggr § 19:45, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- Each of 8 workgroups do assess priority and I'm pretty sure people who assess articles do know the priority scale. - kollision 02:27, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- If nothing else, can you change it from "importance=" to "priority="? Since that's what the consensus was for the task forces, I believe.--Wizardman 17:25, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Overwrites "{redirected from X)" message
It's kind of an annoyance when trying to get to a "Talk:(redirected page)" to, amongst other things, remove an assessment banner. Happens in both Firefox 2.0 and IE6. It is a pretty cool tool, though. Nifboy 06:22, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Living parameter
Looks like the new version of the script is marking people as living when they are not. Some of the stubs I'm assessing don't have birth/death years but the script is still tagging them living even if they are not.↔NMajdan•talk 15:10, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- People in the article should be assumed as living unless determined otherwise. If living should be "no", just change the "yes" to "no". -- Jreferee 00:48, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- The script should be leaving "living" blank if it cannot determine that. Again, I would need examples where it is in fact tagging unknowns as yes. Jref, if you want to assume living=yes, add
assessmentDefaultLiving = "yes"
to your monobook. In this case, only after it examines categories will it default to yes. Haven't tested this user option - should work. –Outriggr § 01:17, 8 March 2007 (UTC) - There were several occasions where the script adding living=yes to people with date of deaths in the article and year-of-death categories.↔NMajdan•talk 13:10, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Greasemonkey
Just trying out your script which looks great but unfortunately doesn't play nice with the Greasemonkey "Editable Wikipedia Titles" script I have, which lets you browse by highlighting the page title and type the new article name. I believe the problem comes in that this script turns the heading from an H1 element to an INPUT element (Error: document.getElementsByTagName("h1")[0] has no properties). I confirmed if I turn off Greasemonkey, your script works as expected.
I realize that's a pretty unique situation so don't necessarily expect you to adapt it to work with that, but just thought I'd let you know. - gRegor 06:59, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Odd problem
I'm using the script, but I'm getting a weird problem- the little box on the article page is displacing the text on the page(as it should), but isn't moving the pictures, leaving them covering things up. I'm not sure if it's a problem on my end or the scripts end. --PresN 05:36, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- You know what? I have that problem too. Always have. I haven't really investigated it, although if I were an expert it would probably be obvious. I haven't heard any other users mention it though. I find that any interaction with the page (link hovering with "popups" script, changing a dropdown box) moves the images into place. I won't forget about it though, and I hope it doesn't stop you from using the script... –Outriggr § 05:46, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Select which Projects are visible
Given the recent growth in the number of WikiProjects this script supports, I think it would be beneficial if you could select which WikiProjects show up in the dropdown. I would think this could be accomplished by defaulting all WikiProject to be hidden and then a simple code addition to the user's monobook.js file to select which are visible. Something like:
// [[User:Outriggr/metadatatest.js]] importScript('User:Outriggr/metadatatest.js'); WikiProjectCollegeFootball.show = true; WikiProjectOklahoma.show = true;
Or something like that (obviously, thats not the right javascript code, but I'm just trying to explain the concept).↔NMajdan•talk 14:13, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Project Selection Bug
When ever I try to change the "projct banner" the assesment boxes suddenly disappear, but they return when I go to a next article. Tarret 14:32, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've had the same issue, but try to avoid it by having Bio as the default and only assessing those articles with the script. -Fsotrain09 14:38, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Conflict with existing templates
I have noticed several times (e.g. on Talk:Guano Apes) that the script placed the new template into an existing one that contained something like {{{2|}}} (used e.g. to fix unsigned comments). Output is something like {{{2|}}{{WPBiography ... }}
}
which screws up the talk page. BNutzer 00:41, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Misplaced WPBiography template
Talk:Minnie Riperton already contained the string "{{tl|cleanup}}." - not at all at the top of the page. Assessing the article placed the WPBio template between "}}" and the following "." (dot). Cheers, BNutzer 20:01, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Something I meant to do long ago was require the templates matched by the script to be at the top of the talk page. I have changed the script accordingly and tested it successfully on Riperton. –Outriggr § 07:22, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 2 templates for same project
When I use the script to assess this article Talk:Acetogenesis, somehow it adds a template to the bottom of the existing one. Note that both templates point to the same project, Wikipedia:WikiProject Environment. Is this suppose to happen? OhanaUnited 00:44, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

- I found out the problem. The template {{Environment}} should be used, not {{WikiProject Environment}}. Please change it. OhanaUnited 00:53, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Edit conflict (combined with barely working internet...). I don't need to post this now: This is happening because one template is called "environment" and the other is called "wikiproject environment" (the one currently built into the script). The script does not presently have the ability to consider two different templates parallel. Now, it looks like you may have given me the wrong template name, because there are only two articles using "WikiProject Environment"--nor does that template take assessment parameters!
So, I will change the template to "environment" in a moment and all should be well. –Outriggr § 01:13, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, not understanding what you said 100%, but have an idea what you're talking about. After the editing, it looks like it turned worse. Now the the dropbox is not there as if the script doesn't exist. What would you recommend to do because {{Template:WikiProject Environment}} is not used as common as {{environment}} and doesn't accept assessment parameters. But using the later one prevents the script from working. OhanaUnited 03:28, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Problem
With the new change, I notice a problem in Firefox. Although the drop-down menus are still good in IE, they are completely gone in Firefox. It still shows 'a _-class article', but there are no drop down boxes to assess the articles.--Wizardman 15:12, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- The dropdown is not appearing in Firefox 2.0.0.2 here, either. MahangaTalk to me 16:15, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Please try changing your "defaultProject" as indicated above. You shouldn't have to for it to work, but see if it helps. Mahanga has project cvgproj, so delete defaultProject and add
assessmentMyProjects = ["Cvgproj"];
(Case is important, I don't remember if it's cvgproj or Cvgproj.) I can tell you it works fine in my IE and Firefox 2.0.0.2. –Outriggr § 19:01, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

- Nope, doesn't let me select a project (array set in monobook.js). Doesn't work in IE6 either. BNutzer 20:39, 19 March 2007 (UTC) My array contains WPBiography (as the first, thus presumably default project), WikiProject Germany and others - Fünf Sterne deluxe is already assessed as start for WPGermany, the project dropdown menu only shows "WikiProject Germany -> start", and I cannot select WPBiography (or any other project). Gebrauche-Musik doesn't have any project templates yet, and the project dropdown menu doesn't show at all :( BNutzer 22:34, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

- Yeah! So the question is, is a customizable template list - combined with seeing templates/grades already on the talk page - an improvement worth all the screwing around? :) –Outriggr § 23:49, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- I would prefer setting a default and seeing them all in the dropdown menu (and thus also see new additions), so my personal answer is: no. Cheers, BNutzer 00:01, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- I suggested it and I love it. I had a default but often I would use a different project that required me to scroll down which was a pain to do every time. I have no desire to see 15 projects in there that I'll never use. And as the popularity of this script increases, so will the number of projects that this script supports. Maybe you'll change your opinion when there are 50 projects in the dropdown.↔NMajdan•talk 14:58, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

- I finally figured out why mine wasn't working and so I'm documenting it here in case somebody else runs into the same problem. This script conflicts with Voice of All's History analyzer script. On the other hand, if you do have both and this script still does work, please let me know so I can look at your monobook file and see if something else is wrong with mine.↔NMajdan•talk 14:19, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Other tags removed after bio assesment
After adding Israel project tag, I assesed for bio project. The Israel tag was removed- see Moshe Arens. Any idea why did that happen? Derwig 19:31, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- I reverted the that article's talk page to the state where you say the problem occurred, but it didn't happen when I tried to add WPBio. It did fail to add a line break between the existing template and WPBio, which I still have to sort out. –Outriggr § 23:49, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

- After using the script to assess an article, I have experienced that I need to reload the article page before assessing the same article for a different project: To reload, press CTRL-F5 in Internet Explorer, or ctrl-shift-R in Firefox. If I do not reload it, the previously added tag will not show in the talk page editing window that the script will open with the second assessment. Hope this helps. BNutzer 21:03, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

This script has just tagged the Garland article as "A" class. I would appreciate it if the human running this script could look and see if s/he agrees, since I dispute it. Is it possible to make a command which adds all of the templates to the list automattically, or do you still have to add them to the monobook manually? Tarret 00:02, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

assessmentMyProjects = ["WPBiography", "Album", "Cvgproj", "Physics", "WikiProject China", "WikiProject Finland", "WPMILHIST", "WikiProject College football", "WPAstronomy", "Visual arts", "WikiProject France", "WikiProject Rugby union", "Film", "WikiProject Russia", "WPAVIATION", "WikiProject Germany", "WPSchools", "Ethnic groups", "WikiProject Saints", "WikiProject Wales", "WPTyneandWear", "WikiProject Oklahoma", "Environment", "LGBTProject", "WPLinux", "WPE", "TelevisionWikiProject", "NFLproject"];

[edit] Script error
Since I took a break from assessing articles, I chose to hide the feature. I've repeatedly tried to turn it back on, but for some reason it doesn't work. Nothing is showing up, and when I press on "On", the "An unassessed article from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia [On] • [Hide] • [Off]" just duplicates itself next to the existing message. See Image:ScriptError.JPG. Maybe that will explain my situation. Nishkid64 20:38, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds like the problem I had. I went ahead and looked at your monobook file and sure enough, you have another script that I had. See my comments in the "Problems" section above.↔NMajdan•talk 20:40, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, I'm removed it temporarily. I'll add the history js back when I need it again. Is there any way I can get both to work together? Nishkid64 21:28, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Not that I've found out. I even tried commenting out the entire history js script and the assessment script still didn't work. I've tried having them in different orders and that didn't work. Maybe Outriggr could take a quick look at the history script and see if he notices anything that could be causing the issue. But, I use this script much more than I use that one so I'm doing the same as you.↔NMajdan•talk 21:32, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

- I've taken a look at the conflicting script and installed it in my monobook. I did find a conflict, which has now been resolved. I think this is fixed, but since I don't know what this other script does, and it seems to be producing errors independent of my script, I can't tell if they are playing nicely together! –Outriggr § 23:45, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] couple of minor errors
You might want to look at Hannibal and use the drop down box. It lists the following:
- Classical Greece and Rome -> B
- V0 -> B (This should be V0.5 -> B)
- WPBiography -> B
- WPFC -> B
- WPMILHIST -> fail (This should be WPMILHIST -> Start)
- WikiProject Tunisia -> B

[edit] Major bug; script removes earlier comment
I used the script to to assign an article to a workgroup of WPBio, and it removed the comment I had just made before. Look at this diff: [5]. Errabee 07:12, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- This is due to your browser having a cached copy of the talk page from before you added the comment. The script applied the assessment to the old (cached) copy, which didn't include the comment. I believe the only solution here is for the user to change the talk page with the script first, if they are going to make more than one edit to it. –Outriggr § 23:07, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

- If I'm not mistaken, I think the answer is to capitalize the word "Environment" in your monobook.js parameter "assessmentMyProjects". I added "Environment" to mine, and it worked. Now, I should really make the script case-independent if this is the reason you can't get it to work. But in the meantime, just change your monobook.js as above. –Outriggr § 06:00, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Not turning on
So I end up with "An unassessed article an unassessed article an unassessed article from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia [On] • [Hide] • [Off] [On] • [Hide] • [Off] [On] • [Hide] • [Off]" continuously. I've tried redoing in my monobook but nothing working - when it does works, it seems to lock to one template and prevents me adding any? Secondarily, it seems to select FAC's strangely, telling me several articles I've looked at are there but aren't. Two I can remember are Spaghetti tree and William Shakespeare. My monobook is here. Thanks, RHB Talk - Edits 17:50, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
-
- RHB, you'll need to add a line to your monobook with the templates (projects) you want to use, like so:
assessmentMyProjects = ["WPBiography", "Project1"];
The first project listed will be the default. You can put one or many. The list of projects included right now is way up above. Second, I have fixed the problem with the incorrect FAC notices. The first problem I'm a bit confused about, but I know the on/off stuff can repeat sometimes and I should fix that. Hopefully this will get you on the right path. –Outriggr § 07:22, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
