My name is Dan Andersen and I live in the Outlands, both figuratively and literally. I'm an Architectural Designer working in Real Estate Development, mostly renovating surplus US military installations.
I studied at Parsons School of Design in Manhattan and New York University, and I live in a rural area outside New York City.
True to my pseudonym, most of the things I write about are on the outer edges of the commonplace - quirky technology pieces like the Gama Goat, odd bits of history like the Montauk Project and alternative sexualities like D/s.
But then, that's OK - there are lots of people who write mainstream stuff.
I've been involved in consensual BDSM for about twenty years as a Dominant and I am an active member of The Eulenspiegel Society where I sometimes teach classes and workshops in BDSM and related topics. I'm what people in the scene call "Bi-Kinky" - I'm attracted to women but I don't have a problem doing BDSM with men.
In addition to articles, I often visit the "new pages" and "new edits" sections of Wikipedia and do minor housework, deletes and edits. With all that experience as a dominant I've been called nearly every vitriolic epithet in the book, so it really dosn't bother me when some newby calls me a "prick" for editing or deleting his latest masterpiece. I'm not cruel, but I am firm, and I don't have a problem taking a stand where it's required.

One of my private projects is to update and fill out some of Wikipedia's alternative sexuality articles. I have extensive experience here, and many excellent resources, so it seems a good place to help out.
Here are some open WikiProject Sexology and Sexuality tasks:
- Current Discussion:
- Work in Progress -- Image guidelines for Sexology and Sexuality
- Peer review -- Attraction to disability
- Major work needed:
- Pup-play is being proposed for deletion on the grounds that its references are not reliable. Could use some major revision.
- Sexual Revolution article needs reorganizing, editing for consistency, and general cleanup.
- Pornography. Article is a featured article candidate. See What is a featured article for criteria to fine tune; No big changes.
- Human sexual behavior is tagged with "original research". Need to track down sources and citations for the facts and opinions stated. This may involve a partial rewrite of the article.
- Paraphilia: Respond to request that definition is incorrect, or conflicting within the article. Source the statements in the article and/or rewrite to provide citations.
- History of sex. (See Talk:History of sexuality/to do.)
- polygyny needs considerable cleanup work after a series of ip copyedits, especially citations.
- polyamory, polygyny, polygamy and polyandry should have more common points rather than differing histories.
- Polysexuality requires cleanup, restructuring, or even rewriting. Merging this article with other articles should also be considered.
- Minor work needed:
- Strap-on dildo needs history references.
