Outta Love Again

Outta Love Again is a song taken from American Rock band Van Halen's 1979 album Van Halen II. The drumming in the track is extremely complex and many drummers state it to be the hardest Van Halen song to play. The opening of the track features hammered-on notes on electric guitar, processed with a high-speed flanger effect to generate a vibrato/synthesizer filter sweep effect, ending with a combination of amplifier and flanger feedback (the latter, not known to be replicated elsewhere). It is said the song was written as early as 1973 before bassist Michael Anthony even joined the band. This has never been proven true however and it would be strange as the song does not feature on any of the extensive collection of demos the band recorded before the release of Van Halen in 1978. Elements of the song would be revived in 1993 in an unusual way; on keyboards as part of Alex Van Halen's drum solo. Given a latin-like flare, this was often used to end the drum solos on all the tours from 1993 to 1998.
