Outcast Islands

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Outcast Islands are two small islands, nearly 0.5 miles apart, and a number of surrounding rocks lying 2 miles southwest of Bonaparte Point, off the southwest coast of Anvers Island in the Palmer Archipelago of Antarctica. The Outcast Islands are located at 64°49′S, 64°08′W. The Outcast Islands were named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-names Committee (UK-APC) following a survey in 1955 by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS). The name arose because of their isolated position some distance from the other islands in the vicinity of Arthur Harbor.
