Out of the Blue (Atlantic LP 81780; Atlantic UK WX139) is the debut album by American singer-songwriter-actress Deborah Gibson. Gibson personally wrote all ten songs on this album. As executive producer, Douglas Breitbart of Broadbeard Productions, Inc. (whom Gibson's mother had hired as manager five years before), assembled a team of producers from both New York and Florida: Fred Zarr of BiZarr Music, Inc., Brooklyn, NY (producer for "Only in My Dreams," released as a maxi single (Atlantic DM 86744) the previous year and as a single (Atlantic 89322) the preceding February); John Morales and Sergio Munzibai of Another M+M Production, Inc., New York City; and Lewis A. Martineé of Pantera Productions, Inc., Miami, Florida.
Zarr produced "Shake Your Love" and "Fallen Angel" in addition to "Only in My Dreams," and co-produced "Out of the Blue," "Staying Together" and "Wake Up to Love" with Gibson, sole producer for "Foolish Beat." Morales and Munzibai produced "Red Hot" and "Between the Lines." Martineé produced "Play the Field."
Out of the Blue made #7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Albums chart and #26 on the U.K. album chart. The album became Gibson's best-selling album to date, selling over 3 million copies in the United States (over 8 million worldwide) and was certified 3x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
