Our Lady of LaSalette School in Berkley, Michigan is located on the corner of Coolige Hwy. and Oxford Rd. The school is located next to a church, which is also named LaSalette. The school's population is about 200, and the school's grades range from Preschool through eighth grade. As of the 2007-2008 school year, the largest class was the seventh grade, with about 27 students. In contrast, the first grade class only has about 10 students.
The school has a partnership with Bishop Foley Catholic High School. OLLS participates in a math program for middle schoolers in ninth or tenth grade math. The students families must pay for this advanced math class. This partnership may end though, as LaSalette is thinking about discontinuing the advanced math program.
OLLS's sports program is surprisingly successful. The Varsity Boys Basketball Team recently won the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) championship. The team defeated St. Edith in the championship game at Divine Child High School in March.
The Cross-Country team also has had recent success. This past year, the team won the CYO championship in only the team's second season.
OLLS's church has been around for 84 years. The church celebrated its eightieth year in two-thousand and four. The school is proud of its high education standards and its small class sizes.
