- I replaced the old NATO designators with the original Czech/Polish ones and added some additional information. dendirrek (talk) 15:33, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- Also, I changed the incorrect designator "OT 64" in the title into "OT-64". dendirrek (talk) 15:36, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Incorrections
Can someone fix that incorrect statement that OT-64 is armoured Tatra T813 based, its utter fiction. Facts OT-64 uses V8 T138/T148 family based engine T813 uses V12 engine. OT-64 uses 5 speed planetary gearbox built by Praga under license from Wilson (preselected gear changes when driver declutches) T813 uses main 5 speed synchro gearbox coupled to 2 speed aux gearbox aka half split and low range planetary power divider. There is some Tatra running gear used but its not specifically T813 based at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stonufka (talk • contribs) 13:08, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
The only armoured Tatra T813 was the RM-70 122mm multiple rocket launcher system based on the T813 chassis and even than it was only the cabin which was armored really only lightly plated. Stonufka (talk) 13:15, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
NOT TRUE - the only 6x6 version of the T813 was the RM70, the 8x8 version formed the basis of the OT64 sans engine and other minor mechanical differences--209.213.220.227 (talk) 16:11, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
RM-70 is the 8x8 T813 based , Tatra T813 was introduced in 1967 so how is the "SKOT" than based on it when manufacturing of OT-64 started in early sixties. You also just copied and pasted the comment I made here onto main article so point me to the information that is relevant, rather than simply saying "not true" that is hardly an evidence. How about they were developed at the same time. Takes years to develop and test new vehicles.--71.242.127.31 (talk) 15:23, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Well highly unlikely and also they have almost nothing in common except the 8x8 setup there is simply no T813 technology in sight anywhere but if someone thinks that 8x8 drive is sufficient who am I to argue with that. There is no chassis to speak of , the suspension is miles different , the engine is 4 cylinders less and gearbox and diffs are from another planet.I only wish to find some proof that it(SKOT) is indeed based on T813. [edit] removal
Removed the following as mostly untrue:
"The OT-64 is based on the Tatra T813[citation needed] using the air-cooled V8 T138 family based engine instead of the Tatra T813, which uses a V12 engine. The OT-64 uses a 5-speed planetary transmission built by Praga under license from Wilson (preselected gear changes when driver declutches) while the T813 uses a 5-speed synchronized gearbox coupled to 2-speed auxiliary splitter gearbox and low range planetary power divider. (Note that the other armored Tatra T813 was the RM-70 122mm multiple rocket launcher system based on the Tatra T813 chassis, with the cab lightly armor plated.)"
