"OSXplanet" is a free (donations accepted) software application for Mac OS X that creates "live" images of various planets in the solar system and projects them as the user's desktop image. The software updates the image throughout the day and is capable of showing various information about Earth such as where is day and night, current active volcanos, latest earthquakes, current clouds and storms and more.
OSXplanet does not support Leopard and it seems that its development has ceased.
[edit] Features
OSXplanet is based on the popular application Xplanet and therefore is very customizable as well as easy to use. The users can choose between various map projections, quality of maps, where to center the planet, which cities to show, and more. OSXplanet supports multiple monitors, and uses OSXplanet Presets, which allows users to easily transfer information between computers and post them on the internet for others to use.
