Oswego East High School, or OEHS, is a public four-year high school located in Oswego, Illinois, a southwest suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Oswego Community Unit School District 308, which also includes Oswego High School.

Oswego East High School opened its doors to freshmen and sophomores in 2004 at a cost of 65 million.
It is currently the second high school in the Oswego 308 School District.
When the school was being built the school district had the students who would attend Oswego East vote on the school mascot and colors.
[edit] Academics
Oswego East held its first ACT examination in April 2006, test results along with the Illinois School Report Card are expected to be released in the fall, and the first class will graduate in 2007. Oswego East had its first, yet small junior graduating class in 2006. Oswego East recently graduated the first four year class in May 2008.

Oswego East competes in the Southwest Prairie Conference and Illinois High School Association. Its mascot is the Wolf.

In 2006, junior Kristina Frahm won 3rd place in state, and then in 2007, she won 12th. Overall in 2007, the bowling team won 2nd in state.

The Oswego East Basketball team had a 24-4 record season during the 2006-2007 school year. They won Conference and advanced to the first round of the IHSA Regionals.
[edit] Boys Golf
In 2007, seniors Michael Conlee and Richard Ramey became the first boys golfers in the history of OEHS to make it to sectionals. From there, Conlee became the first golfer to advance to the IHSA state finals, where he placed 32nd out of 107.
Conlee won the prestigious "Beacon News Boys Golfer of the Year" for his efforts both during conference play and at state. This is the first time someone from Oswego has won this award.
Ramey and Conlee also put up conference numbers with Ramey coming in 10th in the SPC, and Conlee coming in 2nd.
Also in 2007 during a match vs. Plainfield Central, Alexx Dunk became the first wolves golfer to sink a hole-in-one in competition.

[edit] B.I.O.N.I.C.
Believe It Or Not I Care is a student-led organization available for students who are interested in being support persons to other teens. The goal of the group is to reach out to others in the school and community and give them a feeling of belonging.
[edit] Future Educators of America
FEA helps to explore teaching as a career option, providing a realistic understanding of teaching and encouraging students from diverse backgrounds to think seriously about the teaching profession. Students will get information about the profession, employment opportunities, financial assistance options, and education issues; such as mobility, diversity, job security, and other matters.
[edit] Interact Club
Interact, sponsored by the local Rotary Club, is a service and social club open to all students. The club carries out local and international service projects that benefit community or school, such as fundraisers, organize activities, and promote goodwill.
[edit] Student Ecology Organization
Members of the Student Ecology Organization meet regularly to keep abreast of ecology, conservation, and social concerns. Speakers and authorities discuss with membership various current and interesting topics.
[edit] National Art Honor Society
Students who are outstanding in art their freshman year are eligible for membership into NAHS as sophomores. The purpose is to inspire and recognize those students who have shown outstanding ability in art.

Members of the Student council are elected by the student body. Student Council is a service organization and oversees a wide variety of school and community related activities such as student government, assemblies, homecoming, dances, blood drive, and fundraising projects.

[edit] Art Club
You do not have to take an art class or be an artist to join Art Club; everyone is welcome. Art Club members share art-related ideas, promote skills in the arts, create artwork, and bring art into the school and community.
[edit] Auto Club
The auto club is for any student interested in learning about the areas of automotive that are not covered in classes. In the club we learn about high performance, racing, restorations, modifications, and fabricating. We meet once a week to learn about those areas in an informal lecture, discuss the automotive world, fix/modify the students cars, and to make improvements to our shop and auto program. The students host a variety of fund raisiers to fund the restoration/build up of the "Wolf Mobile" which is a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS. We will periodically be taking trips to car shows and the race track as well as tour plants and shops where cars and car parts are made.

Students meet to discuss issues of diversity and design activities to introduce students to various culture groups with in the school. Group members meet every other Thursday throughout the school year.
[edit] Horticulture Club / FFA (Future Farmers of America)=
The Horticulture Club/FFA is open to any and all students interested in horticulture or floral design. Members become involved in a variety of activities related to specific holidays and seasons including fundraisers, sales, FFA competitions, and conferences.
[edit] Literary Club
This is open for any student interested in any kind of literature and especially in creative writing. The name of the club will be chosen by the members. Students will share and learn more about creative writing while being provided an outlet for publication and sharing of writing ideas. The ultimate goal is to publish a literary magazine for Oswego East High School, complete with student artwork. Agenda will be determined by club members; author visits, workshop attendance, guest speakers, etc.
[edit] Wolfpack News
Students involved in East TV 16 produce the morning announcements via live TV hooked up to all OEHS classrooms. The students volunteer to do this and learn a great deal about broadcasting in the process. Experiences range from camera operator, videotape playback, video switching, video editing, teleprompting, computer graphics, audio engineering and producing. Students can work with either or both semesters.
[edit] Academic Decathlon
This is a ten-event competition. Every team member competes in mathematics, science, economics, social science, language and literature, fine arts, prepared and impromptu speech, interview, essay and superquiz. Each team is made up of three honor students, three scholastic students, and three varsity students, by GPA; honor (3.75-4), scholastic (3-3.75), varsity (0-2.99).
[edit] Drama/Theater
The OEHS drama and theater company puts on three main stage shows each school year: a fall play, a winter play, and a spring musical. The current production is Les Miserables. East's production of Les Miserables broke two box ticket records: number of tickets sold to one performance and total number of tickets sold for the entirety of the show.
[edit] Commotion (Show Choir)
Membership is selected through audition with the choral director. It is a select choir that performs popular type music for functions. The Commotion also competes is district and statewide music contests. They perform popular type music for school and community.
[edit] Mathletes
Students volunteer in Honors Math classes. Mathletes coach makes the final selections. Mathletes compete against various schools in math contests as well as in the Suburban Prairie Conference.
[edit] Pom Squad
Members of the Pom Squad are selected in the spring of the previous school year through a tryout system. Membership is limited only to those in the sophomore, junior and senior classes. Poms perform at football and basketball games as well as at student pep assemblies. There is also a summer clinic and camp that students are expected to participate in. Fundraising activities are a major aspect of being a Pom.
[edit] Scholastic Bowl
Membership on the Scholastic Bowl Team is made by the sponsor of the team. Students compete in College Bowl format of competition against various other schools as well as the I.H.S.A. state series.
[edit] Speech Team
Speech Team is open to all students who wish to improve their public speaking and/or stage skills. Competition at meets consists of the areas of oratory, oral declamation, prose, verse, humorous/dramatic interpretation, impromptu, humorous/dramatic duet acting, extemporaneous, radio speaking and original comedy. The season runs from November through February.
[edit] WYSE Scholastic Team Competition
WYSE is a scholastic team that competes in an annual statewide competition in the academic areas of math, chemistry, English, physics, biology, and graphics. The sponsor selects members of the team. Winners receive medals, trophies, and scholarships.
[edit] Marching Band
The OEHS marching wolves, are marching people who play at sporting events for Oswego East. The band is made of almost a hundred musicians dedicated to entertaining and creating an environment, while still maintaining a high level of musicianship. The Beast of the East have entertained crowds at wolves sporting events since 2005. They first priority is to entertain and to have fun.
In 2005, the combined marching bands of Oswego High and Oswego East marched the 116th Tournament of Roses parade. During the parade they received many complements about the Oswego Marching Bands. The marching bands are noncompetitive bands, and their motto that year was ¨Tour¨nament of Roses: 2005 Miles All the Way... Oswego to Pasadena. The 2005 miles, actually, comes from the distance between Chicago and Pasadena on Route 66.
