Osuna

Osuna is a town and municipality in Sevilla province, Spain, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Population in 2003 was estimated as 17,345, of whom only 48 were not Spanish citizens.

  • Location: latitude 37º 14' north, longitude 5º 06' east
  • Altitude: 282 m

Among famous people associated with Osuna is Juan de Ayala, the commander of the first European ship to enter the San Francisco Bay in California.

The battle of Munda, the last battle won by Julius Caesar in person, was fought at the outskirts of Munda, close to Osuna.

In Michelangelo Antonioni's film, The Passenger, the character of Locke (played by Jack Nicholson) is assassinated in a hotel located in Osuna (Hotel La Gloria).
