Osterley is a place in the London Borough of Hounslow in West London. It is a suburban development situated 10 miles (16.1 km) west south-west of Charing Cross.
Osterley is defined by its bordering roads, The southern road being the A4 (The Great West Road), the northern being Jersey Road (once called Scrattage Lane), the eastern road is Syon Lane, and the western being Thornbury Road. These borders technically place Osterley tube station outside Osterley proper, but within the continuous residential development from Osterley to Heston.
Osterley, is a residential area known for its large amounts of green space. The district is notable for Osterley Park and house (formerly owned by the Jersey family, after whom the nearby road is named, and used during the war as the home for Tom Wintringham's Home Guard training school, and now owned by the National Trust). The town is also home to the new studios of Sky News.
Besides Osterley House and Park, Osterley is also famous for containing one of the London residences of The Sultan of Brunei, The Aviary Farm in Windmill Lane.
The electoral ward of Osterley and Spring Grove now has its own dedicated Police team part of the Metropolitan Police Safer Neighbourhoods programme.
Osterley was, until recently, home to the international headquarters of the Gillette Company, the Gillette building remains an iconic Art Deco 1930s Grade II listed building[1].

The English town of Osterley is not to be confused with the Tasmanian town of the same name, situated at the mouth of the Victoria Valley in the southern foothills of the Central Plauteau of Tasmania, north of Hamilton. Once a thriving community, the population today stands at less than a dozen. Items of interest in the town include the fine War memorial hall and St. James the Less Church of England.
