Osphronemus is the only genus within the subfamily Osphroneminae (family Osphronemidae). These fish are known as the giant gouramis.

The genus Osphronemus contains four species.[1]

  • Elephant ear gourami, Osphronemus exodon
  • Giant gourami, (Osphronemus goramy)
  • Giant red tail gourami, Osphronemus laticlavius
  • Osphronemus septemfasciatus
