As of 2001 India census[2], Osmanabad had a population of 80,612. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Osmanabad has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 67%. In Osmanabad, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Kati is a village in Tuljapur Division which has 2 ancient Masjids, both more than 500 years old. The larger is called Jamia Masjid, the other Masjid is older and very small with a mysterious typical architecture. Naldurg is another historical place with a beautiful historic fort.

Osmanabad district is also famous for temple of Tuljabhavani, which is kuldaivata of Maharashtra. There are eight tehsils in Osmanabad district:- 1) Osmanabad 2) Tuljapur 3) Omerga 4) Paranda 5) Bhoom 6) Kalamb 7) Vashi 8) Lohara
Terna dam on the river Terna, is in Lohara tehsil at Makani. It a beautiful place. After 1993 earthquake, Makani, Kate Chincholi & Karajgaon have become one village. It an important educational & market place in Lohara tehsil.
