Osman Nuri Topbaş

Osman Nuri Topbas (born 1942) is a Turkish writer who lives in Istanbul. He has received both a traditional and modern education. He has written many books covering different aspects of Islam as a religion and as a civilization. One recurring subject in his writings bears on demonstrating the importance of mercy, of love and of care in our social relations as the very fabric of an authentic Islamic way of life.

He is currently the spiritual leader of the one of the most significant mystical Islamic movements in Turkey. His followers are expanded to the former soviet countries. His followers all over the world are estimated to reach more than 100.000 people. He supports and organises several foundations thorough which in many former iron curtain countries, he runs many boarding high schools or charity houses. Some of the ministers and parliament members of the current Turkish government have proven to be his followers.
