[edit] First public library

DO NOT delete the vfd header from an article. RickK 05:47, Jul 15, 2004 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Your contributions are very welcome. However, if you don't want a page deleted, vote against its deletion there; please do not remove the VFD notice until there is consensus to keep the page. Ambivalenthysteria 05:47, 15 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for your welcome and information about VfD tags, Ambi. I was not aware how they worked. Rick's high-handed and discourteous behaviour is the first I have met on wikipedia and it's left a bad taste in my mouth. -- Oska 05:59, Jul 15, 2004 (UTC)

See Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/temp RickK 05:52, Jul 15, 2004 (UTC)

Rick I want to respond to your deletion vote but you have not added an add to this discussion link making it impossible for me to do it in the right way. -- Oska 06:18, Jul 15, 2004 (UTC)
Also, please do not shout at me in capitals on my own user page. -- Oska 06:19, Jul 15, 2004 (UTC)
Oska, you can just place your vote here. Ambivalenthysteria 06:22, 15 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I haven't touched your user page. RickK

What is it exactly that you're interested in about libraries? Maybe you could add something to Public library, which already exists, but is fairly short. Ambivalenthysteria 06:46, 15 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I am actively interested in the question: Where was the first public library established and when did it open? I had always assumed that the public library was a British invention until I read the claim made by William James Sidis which I reference in the article. I have actively looked on the internet for the answer to this question and found it harder to find information than I originally presumed.
I found the article on public libraries but thought it was better to create a new article and add a link to it (which I did). I did this for two reasons : 1) I think it is a valid topic in it's own right and 2) I thought the information may be too much detail for a casual reader of the public library topic.
I can reference both of the claims I have referred to in the article. I know they are only claims, and that is my point - I thought Wikipedia would be great for getting people to confirm or rebutt these claims and also to add futher information.
Finally, the only thing I can think of apart from additions and edits to the article to improve it is that the name might be changed to History of the public library or even History of Libraries

[edit] Vagina

You should have written that comment on the article talk page. A justification is always necessary for a revert, unless you are dealing with obvious vandalism, which my edit was not. I'd appreciate if you can asnwer some of my questions at the article's Talk page. Paranoid 15:04, 12 Aug 2004 (UTC)
