Oskol River

Oskol (or Oskil, Russian: Оскол; Ukrainian: Оскiл) is a river in Russia and Ukraine.

Length of the river is length 472 km, it flows through Kursk Oblast and Belgorod Oblast in Russia and through Kharkiv Oblast in Ukraine into the Seversky Donets river (left tributary). An artificial lake, the Krasno-Oskol Reservoir (Chervonooskil Reservoir, Червоноскільське водосховище), was opened in year 1958 to help with flood protection and as a source of electricity.

The first city along the river is Stary Oskol, the largest city in Ukraine is Kupiansk.
