Osica de Jos (en: Lower Osica) is a village in the Olt county of Oltenia, Romania. Osica de Jos is a recently set up commune. The law establishing the new commune, containg both Osica de Jos and Bobu villages, was published June 13th 2003. Prevoiusly, Osica de Jos and Bobu were part of the Dobrun commune. In casual language of the inhabitants of the village and neighboring towns, the village is named Osica Mică (en: Small Osica) to make the distinction from the village of Osica Mare/Osica de Sus (en: Upper Osica or Greater Osica), which is larger in term of population and land surface.
The band of căluşari from Osica de Jos is a nationally recognized, as stated by the many awards received in folklore competitions.
