Oshakati

Oshakati is one of the most developed towns in the area known as Ovamboland in northern Namibia. It is the capital of the Oshana Region, the second most densely populated of the country's thirteen regions. Oshakati was officially founded in July 1966 and was used as a base of operations by the South African Defence Force (SADF) during the long South African Border War.

In Oshiwambo, the language of the Owambo people who occupy the region, the town's name means "that which is in between." Oshakati is located near the B1, Namibia's main highway, which stretches from the border with South Africa through the capital Windhoek and on to the Angolan border.
Oshakati has experienced much development since Namibia achieved independence on March 21, 1990. In April 2006, the Oshakati Town Council building was inaugurated by Botswanan President Festus Mogae.
Because it was destroyed by the high flood this year, the mayor of the town decided to relocate some of the street to the safest place. The mayor said the government used bulk of million to transport, feed and to replace the damage caused by the flood.
Oshakati is also the place of enterainment, there are lot of place where you can socialaze if you feel lonely e.g nigth club mtata wth dj mjala behind the maiker. It's also the only town at north to have broadcasting station {nbc} and other stations.

The town shares an airport with neighbouring Ondangwa. It has a soccer team, Oshakati City FC.
