Osceola County Highway 521

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

November 2006 Osceola County Road 523, which is mostly named Canoe Creek Road, is the primary route between the city of Saint Cloud, Florida, USA, in northern Osceola County, and the ghost town of Kenansville in the county's lower reaches. The county road crosses Florida's Turnpike via two overpasses but offers no access to the freeway itself. Osceola CR 523 crosses some of Florida's most undeveloped countryside and gives the traveler a more rustic appreciation of the old Florida. At the road's end in Kenansville and the junction with U.S. Highway 441, the traveller can see more of the old Florida with the abandoned Heartbreak Hotel, Kenansville Library, and other ghost buildings. At the junction with U.S. 441, the traveller can head either north to Holopaw or south to Yeehaw Junction where Florida's Turnpike crosses S.R. 60.

The Heartbreak Hotel has been restored and is open for business! Four very nice rooms and a gift shop. (407)436-1284. 1350 S. Canoe Creek Rd, Kenansville, FL.
