Oscar J. Friend

Oscar Jerome Friend (1897-1963) was primarily a pulp fiction author in various genres including horror, Westerns, science fiction, and detective fiction. As a writer he worked with both Wonder Stories and Startling Stories. He was also co-editor for several anthologies.

- The Kid From Mars (1940) Genre: Science fiction. Disney approached Oscar J. Friend just after the war and planned to make this novel into a musical with Danny Kaye. Oscar moved from New York to Los Angeles, but the plans fell through.
- The Range Maverick (date unknown) Genre: Western.
- The Hand Of Horror (date unknown) Genre: Thriller. Written under the pen name Owen Fox Jerome.
- Friend also used the pen names Ford Smith & Frank Johnson for his science fiction stories.
