Osborne Village (located near the city centre of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) derived its names from the Fort Osborne Barracks of the The Second Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry.

On March 20, 1919, the Regiment was selected as one of the three infantry units to form the Permanent Active Militia or Permanent Force. It is here that the Regiment's close relationship with Winnipeg was truly formed. The Regimental Headquarters, and A and D Companies were located at Fort Osborne Barracks, overlooking the Assiniboine River in April, 1920.
Training at Osborne Barracks in the inter-war years consisted of many activities including compulsory boxing matches and unarmed combat training lessons. Matches were often held in the evening and the public were usually invited as guests.
Eventually, the Princess Patricia's were relocated to Tuxedo and the Kapyong Barracks to make way for construction of the Manitoba Legislature.
Today, Osborne Village is a charming neighborhood filled with character and terrific shopping. It's Winnipeg's most densely populated neighborhood, a beehive of activity, where there is always something going on. Boutiques and shops feature clothing, crafts, gifts, books, gourmet chocolates and coffee, designer furniture, artworks and unique kitchenware. Also boasting over 30 restaurants, from fast food to fine dining, the Osborne Village offers international fare from four continents.
The Osborne Village Inn is the only hotel in the Osborne Village, and is home to Winnipeg's premier rock n' roll bar venues, The Zoo and Ozzy's Lounge. The Osborne Village Inn has a rock-solid reputation that spans three decades of booking the hottest hometown and touring acts available.
