User:Orthogonal/IRC ban by Snowspinner

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The following is the log of my banning from the #wikipedia IRC channel. The lines of interest are summarized first; the full log from the time Snowspinner objected to my "making personal attacks" against him is given below, with lines of interest highlighted. Only my IP address has been elided. My IRC "nick" at the time was "earhertz"

This is apparently what set Snowspinner off; I say apparently as he didn't take time to explain.

[8/29/2004 12:35 AM] <Snowspinner> earHertz: Don't make personal attacks against me in this channel.
[8/29/2004 12:36 AM] <earHertz> Snowspinner: has me on ignore, so fortunately he can't see when I call him n apple-dumpling
[8/29/2004 12:36 AM] <Snowspinner> ear: Actually, my ignore dropped when you changed nicks. And I haven't bothered to put it up for this nick.
 [8/29/2004 12:37 AM] <earHertz> Snowspinner: oh cool!
[8/29/2004 12:37 AM] <earHertz> Snowspinner: any personal atttack in particular you object to, are are you just making a general claim against free speech?
[8/29/2004 12:38 AM] <Snowspinner> ear: The Sn0wsinner bit is what triggered the warning.
[8/29/2004 12:38 AM] <earHertz> Snowspinner: oww, I triggered a warning? Do you have a Distant early Warning line like NORAD Snony?
[8/29/2004 12:39 AM] <FennecFoxen> earHertz: you really need to stop.
[8/29/2004 12:39 AM] <earHertz> FennecFoxen: stop what, exactly?
 [8/29/2004 12:40 AM] =-= Mode #wikipedia +b earHertz!*@[IP address elided] by Snowspinner
[8/29/2004 12:40 AM] =-= YOU have been booted from #wikipedia by Snowspinner (Repeated trolling and personal attacks.)
[8/29/2004 12:40 AM] [INFO] You are banned from this channel.

For reference, this is what followed shortly after the ban:

 node_ue: Ooh.
 Snowspinner: Stop that.
nohat: node_ue: you aren't going to convince me to eat human
nohat: i simply don't want to
 Frazzydee: ouch
 node_ue: Why don't you?
FennecFoxen: Snowspinner: oh, darn, I wanted to do it
