Orticulation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Orticulation is a pamphlet collecting the single-panel cartoons by Win Jones from The Lawrentian, the student newspaper of Lawrence University. Orticulation features cartoons from 1950 through 1954. Most of the cartoons cover college life in the United States during the 1950s, though a couple feature young soldiers in the army. The humor draws on sight gags and exaggerations of typical college scenes.

The newspaper and Mortar Board published Orticulation in 1954 and sold it for 75ยข in time for Lawrence's graduation weekend that year. Today it is difficult to find and rarely comes up for sale. Copies exist at Ohio State University's Cartoon Research Library and the Smithsonian.[1]
