Orn Euy Srey Orn was one of the most famous Cambodian movies of the 1970s starring Kung Som Eun, Virak Dara, Trente Deux, and Nok Naim about the love between a poor man and a woman.
[edit] Plot
A poor, farmer named Chea (Kung Som Eun) returns home to his family after going to school for several years and befriends a man (Nok Naim) who later inherits wealth and high-ranking status.
Chea soon falls in love with his neighbour, Orn (Virak Dara). His happiness is put to a halt when his father becomes ill and dies and the landowner demands for the overdue rent. Chea asks his old friend for some financial help, and quickly discovers that he has been transformed by the money into a cold-hearted man.
Chea and his younger brother soon begin selling noodles in order to make enough cash for the family. His luck is cut short when he realizes his competition against another noodle seller (Trente Deux), making for many light, comedic incidents.
Chea is soon engaged to Orn, although his former friend quickly eyes his fiance and arranges a plan to get rid of Chea, in order to have Orn for himself.
[edit] Soundtrack
Sinn Sisamouth performed the title track for the film. Other songs include "Bong Som Pdum Srey Orn", "Jaih Mok Orn Srey", and "Orn Euy Srey Orn".
