Orlando Lutheran Academy

The Orlando Lutheran Academy is a private Lutheran school, grades 6-12, located on 550 N. Econlockhatchee Trail in Orlando, Florida. It is a member of FHSAA and currently has slightly less than 200 students. The school's motto is "Orlando Lutheran Academy is a Christ-centered learning community."[1]

The Orlando Lutheran Academy offers many different types of sports programs.

-Basketball (Boys/Girls) -Soccer (Boys) -Volleyball (Girls) -Baseball (Boys) -Cross County (Boys/Girls) -Track & Field (Boys/Girls) -Football (Boys)

Football and soccer share a field with baseball, dedicated to and named as the Dominick Joseph Hurt Sports Complex.

2007-2008 Season:

Boys Varsity Soccer had a very successful season this year, advancing to regional semi-finals before losing to The Masters Academy 2-1. This season their record was 16-5-3. The least losses in OLA history. The soccer team is the most productive team at The Orlando Lutheran Academy.

Football had their first season since 1979. They went 6-4, winning their last 3 games.

Boys Basketball was Conference Champions, going 5-0 in their conference.

English (I/II/III/IV/AP), Mathematics (Algebra I/Geometry/Algebra II/Pre-Calculus/Eco-Math [dealing with cheque writing, calculating loans, etc]), Science (Anatomy & Phisiology, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics), Social Studies (World History/American History/American Government/Economics), Physical Education (Team Sports/Weight Lifting/P.E./Life Management), Christian Theology (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th), Art (Clay I/II; Art 2D/3D), and Practical Arts (Choir, Band).ew Students choose from electives such as: Civil War, Psychology, Web Master, Business Technology, Graphic Design, and Yearbook.

[edit] Student Oppurtunity

Students can participate in a number of extracurricular activities, including weightlifting, drama, praise band, and chapel production. Also, dual-enrollment is offered at Valencia Community College which allows for students to take part in college classes while earning both a high school graduation credit, and a college credit.

Students who attend OLA may also choose to enroll in Florida Virtual School, which allows for the opportunity to take many classes not offered at the Orlando Lutheran Academy. (http://www.flvs.net) If enrolled in FLVS (Florida Virtual School) credits from this online public schooling institution can be transferred to your Orlando Lutheran Academy record upon request.

With the major influx of new students applying at The Orlando Lutheran Academy, the school plans to build a new campus (2010) in Oviedo, Florida near St. Luke's Lutheran School.

Orlando Lutheran Academy is a fully accredited school as recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA), the Association of Independent Schools of Florida (AISF), and the National Lutheran School Accreditation organization (NLSA).
