Orlando Engelaar (born August 24, 1979 in Rotterdam, South Holland) is a football attacking midfielder from the Netherlands, who is playing for FC Twente in the Dutch Eredivisie. He previously played for Feyenoord at youth team level, NAC Breda and KRC Genk.
Being 1.98m tall, he is a towering and commanding presence in midfield and also one of the tallest players in the Eredivisie. Previously a striker, he is now usually found in midfield where he has impressed with his aerial and passing abilities. His greatest quality is largely considered to be his through pass because, in spite of his size, he is very much an attack minded player.
Orlando is the captain of FC Twente.
He made his international debut for the Netherlands in a friendly against South Korea on June 2, 2007 and was picked by coach Marco van Basten for the Dutch Euro 2008 squad. He played the full ninety minutes in the Netherlands 3-0 victory over Italy in their Group C match. It was the Netherlands first victory over Italy in thirty years.
