This version: Substantially edited for chromatic aberration, colour and tonal imbalances and perspective distortion. Downsampled by 50% from 2500px to 1280px to overcome sharpness and grain issues. This image has been masked and selectively dodged to improve aesthetics; main subject representation remains factually accurate to the best of my knowledge. mikaultalk 23:18, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Description

The front exterior of the Italian Chapel, Orkney, Scotland. The chapel was built out of limited materials by Italian prisoners during World War II. The chapel was constructed from two Nissen huts joined end-to-end. Most of the decoration was done by Domenico Chiocchetti, a POW from Moena, who remained on the island to finish the chapel even when his fellow prisoners were released shortly before the end of the war.
