[edit] Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, Ori.livneh, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member, you might be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee, Titoxd, JoanneB, and Freakofnurture.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact me by my talk page, Celestianpower by email or talk page, or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users on our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, please see the IRC Tutorial, which was written by one of our members. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to be!

Thanks! --Firien § 14:16, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Amiri Baraka‎

Right you are. I worked on the article a bit some time ago, but since then it has devolved into a hero worship article. Torturous Devastating Cudgel 01:30, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 2006 FIFA World Cup controversies

Hi Ori! Thanks for your recent interest in the AfD of the 2006 World Cup controversies article. Your input is most appreciated. Since the AfD is now closed and the World Cup almost over, I'd like to encourage you to put some input into the improvement of this article, either by improving where you think you can, or by suggesting changes on the talk page. Kind regards, MyNameIsNotBob 03:33, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image_talk:TTCSubwayInterlined1966.svg

Thanks for your message. In the context of the subway system itself, it is not a transfer station. Other stations that link with GO Trains (such as Dundas West) are not considered "transfer stations" by virtue of their connection, so Union should not either. However, sometimes it's called the transfer point between the University/Spadina and Yonge lines, but I think that's, well, crap -- the trains run straight through, you don't change trains, and they're not separate lines. The only other reason would be the streetcar station which is a subway (with one other station, Queen's Quay). But I think it's a big stretch. Cleduc 13:42, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Herta Müller

Hi there. You requested a Herta Müller article over at Wikipedia:German-English translation requests, and I did the translation. I thought you might like to read over it, since you probably know more about her than I do. - Rainwarrior 05:23, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks very much! I actually know very little about Mueller. The speed with which you picked up the article and translated it is remarkable. --Ori.livneh 20:19, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hilary Putnam

Thanks for the strong show of support on Putnam. I also agree with your observation about "doing some hard rethinking".....--Francesco Franco aka Lacatosias 07:24, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Frustration

Once again, thanks for your support, Ori. And it's not quite true that no-one has expressed support. In fact, Dbuckner, yourself, SlimVirgin and several others have all expressed strong support and backed me up through the process. Thanks..--Francesco Franco aka Lacatosias 13:39, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Canaanites (movement) on DYK

Updated DYK query On 4 August 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Canaanites (movement), which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

cool, thanks! --Ori.livneh 21:32, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations, good job, and thanks for making this translation. I was the one who listed it at WP:FAOL. Perhaps you would like my some of my Wikipedia interests, particularly a couple of dozen Hebrew Wikipedia articles about relatively prominent Israeli authors who are not yet covered in English. Thanks. --Hoziron 03:40, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hulse

Hi--I was wondering if you decided to create the Michael Hulse article just due to your own interest, or because you saw his name on a "to do" list on a portal or Wikiproject. Just trying to guage the effectiveness of those noticeboards. Great work, by the way AdamBiswanger1 19:56, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] IPA2: an Article for Deletion

Shalom Ori! I just logged in and noticed that my article is tagged as AfD. I read the comments and I think it is tagged for personal reasons of the AfD initiator. Would you pls leave your comment? As the author, I do not see myself the right person to give comments. I really appreciate your opinion, regardless of what you decide. Todah Rabah! -DrMoslehi 01:01, 17 September 2006 (UTC+3:30)

Hi DrMoslehi. Unfortunately, I am without stable internet access at the moment, and so cannot afford the time to investigate its validity. I will keep an eye on it, though, and will add a response if I find myself in a position to contribute. Best, --Ori.livneh 13:23, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry to see you go, and I hope you find somewhere else to contribute. I must wonder, though, why leave after almost four months of membership? -- Cielomobile minor7♭5 03:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

I think there are other aspects of Wikipedia where my particular skill-sets will be more useful. Pardon the much belated reply. --16:01, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Etgar-keret-photo-by-moti-kikayon.jpg

Hey,

I was wondering if you can send a copy of your permission to permissions@wikimedia.org with a link to the photo so the permission can be verified (that is, if it was received by e-mail). Thanks, Yonatanh 16:11, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Yonatanh 16:11, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Bishop luffa logo.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Bishop luffa logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Zedla (talk) 05:14, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
