Orivesi is a municipality of Finland. It was founded in 1865.

It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Pirkanmaa region. The municipality has a population of 9,472 (2007) and covers an area of 971 km² of which 107 km² is water. The population density is 16.3 inhabitants per km².

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
