Later Fairhead, then Hayes and Wilder. In series one Baz had a string of relationships, culminating in her pregnancy by Charge Nurse Charlie Fairhead. She secretly aborted the child and their relationship consequently collapsed. Baz returned to Holby towards the end of Series 9, accompanied by her new husband Peter Hayes. She and Charlie attempted to keep their relationship strictly professional but they could not contain their feelings for each other and sought a physical relationship. Baz's marriage to Peter had always been unstable and ended following her pregnancy with Charlie's love child. Divorced, Baz married Charlie in a wedding ceremony which saw four former Casualty stars reprising their roles. The marriage did not last and Baz ultimately fled to Canada, taking their child Louis with them. They were reunited briefly when Baz returned in series 18, but suffered massive head injuries in a road accident and her life support machine was turned off after the doctors certified her as brain dead.

Duffy left the show in season eight following her unexpected pregnancy with her husband Andrew. She returned four years later in series twelve for the wedding of Charlie Fairhead and Barbara Wilder, along with Megan Roach and Martin Ashford. She confided in Charlie that her marriage to Andrew was crumbling. However when she returned in season 14, she had an affair with Max although she and Andrew were still together and remained together until his death at the end of Series 15, which was a hard time for her. She found out that her husband was returning to work at her work place and they didn't get on very well which resulted in another unexpected pregnancy, which Andrew didn't take kindly to and at 5 months she suffered a miscarriage scare which made Andrew realise that he did want the baby. They made up but he was murdered soon after. She later became engaged to security guard and con artist Ryan who disappeared with her life savings. He returned, reimbursed the money in full, declared his love for Duffy and the two disappeared to forge a new life in New Zealand. Their relationship evidently did not last as Duffy reappeared at the start of season 21 without him.

She enjoyed a memorable five year stint in the programme during which time she was held hostage, divorced her husband and watched one of her colleagues and friends die. Following Brenda Fricker's successful role in My Left Foot Megan was written out of the series. The character moved back to her native Ireland. In series 12 she returned for the wedding of two other original characters, Charlie Fairhead and Barbara Wilder. She returned for a Comic Relief special in 2007 - episode 21x29 - in which her grandson had mental health problems, a key area which Comic Relief aims to raise funds for.
