The song was produced, written and arranged by Jim Steinman. Steinman originally wrote and produced the song for the album Original Sin by Pandora's Box (band). The photograph displayed on the cover of the single was shot by Alberto Tolot, taken on the set of its music video.

Although released in the U.S. as a cassette and CD single, it did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100. However it did chart in the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number 63.
