Oriental Beat (song)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Oriental Beat" is a song taken from glam punk band Hanoi Rocks' second album, Oriental Beat, released in 1982. The song appears to be about a visit to Hanoi, Vietnam, by vocalist Michael Monroe. In particular, Monroe claims he wishes to move there permanently because he is tired of the Western world.

The song features the lyric, "The Chinese girls make me happy, it's enough if I tell 'em I'm not from the USA," and the same line again with the word "boys" replacing "girls." This highlights the possibility of Monroe's bisexuality, although some argue that he is simply talking about how during the Vietnam War, local youngsters were enchanted by American soldiers and would help them out with things such as language.

The song features a saxophone solo by Monroe.
