Orient is a village in Pickaway County, Ohio, United States. The population was 269 at the 2000 census.

Orient is home to the Pickaway Correctional Institution.

Orient is located at 39°48′18″N, 83°9′16″W (39.804906, -83.154567)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 269 people, 95 households, and 72 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,168.3 people per square mile (865.5/km²). There were 102 housing units at an average density of 822.2/sq mi (328.2/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.88% White and 1.12% Native American.

There were 95 households out of which 44.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.7% were married couples living together, 13.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.2% were non-families. 18.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.83 and the average family size was 3.19.

In the village the population was spread out with 31.6% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 8.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 110.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.7 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $33,333, and the median income for a family was $38,750. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $22,344 for females. The per capita income for the village was $15,515. About 14.6% of families and 11.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.9% of those under the age of eighteen and none of those sixty five or over.
