[edit] Brief Biography
Born 1954 in Istanbul, Turkey, Orhan immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1977. After several years in Montreal, Orhan and his brother Cumhur moved to Toronto. There they changed their names to "Jimmy and Mike" to sound more Canadian. Cumhur is still widely referred to as "Mike", but the monicker "Jimmy" didn't stick to Orhan.
Orhan is immensely talented and well received by the musician community although he has had little commercial success. His albums are critically acclaimed by respected magazines such as "Downbeat", "Option" and "Cadence".
Orhan Demir's style is an interesting blend of Be-Bop rhythms set against a middle-eastern scale played with a blazingly fast picking technique. He has been compared to John McLaughlin and Django Reinhardt
