[edit] Where did the word "Orchestra" in the title come from? Admin pls look at??

Hi

I am baffled as to why this article is called "Oregon Symphony Orchestra" with "Oregon Symphony" as a redirect to it.

On the orchestra's website there's no evidence at all that they call themselves "Oregon Symphony Orchestra"; I suspect that, like many orchestras worldwide and especially in the USA, they simply do not use the term. There are plenty of other examples of this. I feel that the current situation should be reversed - the article should be at "Oregon Symphony" and the redirect should be "Oregon Symphony Orchestra" which will help users who ?mistakenly use that term.

I would be delighted to hear more: if someone knows or believes that I am wrong then please educate me! But otherwise I think someone with the necessary privs should sort it out, please.

Thanks

[edit] History of the orchestra

We can see the history of Oregon Symphony on its official website [1]. Can anyone paraphrase it and enrich the "Oregon Symphony" article? -- Occhanikov 01:15, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
