[edit] Informal Tone

Below is everything that was written in an informal tone and unreferenced, I put no wiki tags around it but it's all there. The text was far to advertorial and I put it here. It really took away from what good info was there. If the info below can be verified and sources provided it can be rewritten and replaced in the article. Until then it should stay here. Outside of Oregon, one would find neverending farmland, with dairy, corn, and bean farms galore. =Location= Oregon may be found at the crossroads of Highway 64, Highway 2, and the scenic hills and bluffs of the [[Rock River]]. Oregon is the second most populous city in Ogle County, second only to [[Rochelle, Illinois]], with a population of near 10,000. =Community= Today, Oregon is a community of only 4,000, but 7,500 people have Oregon's "61061" zip code. The city, as mentioned below is rich with charm and beauty as it is center stage of the beautiful Rock River that flows from Southern Wisconsin through the Quad Cities. Coming into Oregon will prove to you that... Hallelujah! There are hills in Illinois. Many people find this desirable and unexpected in Illinois... But, take a drive on 64 West if you really want to see hills... [[Galena, Illinois]], [[Mount Morris, Illinois]], [[Savanna, Illinois]], [[Polo, Illinois]] and several other cities will greet you upon your "quest westward." Eastward you lose the hills fast and begin... little by little receiving traffic from colossal Chicago's western suburbs. Bordering cities [[Rochelle, Illinois]], [[Hillcrest, Illinois]], [[Davis Junction, Illinois]], [[Stillman Valley, Illinois]], and many more are feeling the "heat" of being so convenient for commuters travelling equal routes on [[I-39]], [[I-88]], and [[I-90]] To Chicago, Madison, Wisconsin, The Quad Cities, Rockford, and Chicago's exploding western suburbs... =Miscellaneous= Oregon is full of charm. Many historical victorian homes straight out of Europe reside here. Catholicism is big, but surely, you will find a denomination for you in the Ogle County area. The downtown is impressive, with a HUGE new courthouse, and buildings from the mid-late 1800's, as the city was established in 1834. Bed and Breakfasts will greet you in Oregon, and you will find a beautiful, calming, serene midwestern retreat... It seems like a whole new world from the Quad Cities, and Chicago, Elgin, Rockford, etc., and if you are craving the need for a big city again... Jump on one of the interstates that serves Ogle County, and drive a half an hour, any direction. =Shopping and Attractions= Downtown Oregon is a jewel, a variety of locally owned businesses in buildings that hold historical significance. The city's center is at the intersection of Routes 2 and 64. On-street parking makes it easy to stop and shop -- or explore. The Ogle County Courthouse is in a park-like setting at this main intersection, and many community events are held in the park-like surroundings. Built in 1980, the Courthouse is on the National Register of Historic Places. Lorado Taft Soldiers' Monument sits on the lawn, commissioned by Ogle County Board to honor veterans of the Civil War and Spanish American War, completed in 1916. A pair of Civil War cannons protect the entrance. Oregon is a vibrant community with great shops, comfortable and elegant lodging, great places to eat and lots of things to see and do. Conover Square Mall is just a few blocks from the main intersection. This former piano factory houses a [[bakery]], cofffeeshop, a bookstore, several art shops, and many one of a kind businesses. It is home to the The Oregon area [[Chamber of Commerce]]. From museums to art galleries to historical sites to parks and recreation, Oregon offers fun, culture, and entertainment for the entire family. Three of every four first time visitors to Oregon come back again. Several [[festivals]] and [[parades]] will go on year-round. There's no "off season" for an Oregon visit, but many visitdors flock to see [["fall foliage"]] weeks in Early October. Oregon's famous "Autumn On Parade" festival begins the first Saturday in October. Christmastime and times around New Year are also good times to come as the city holds many Christmas enthusiasts who decorate their homes and yards beautifully. Oregon has a dazzling collection of restaurants, including a paddlewheel riverboat that goes on cruises down the Rock River, and of course there is a wide variety of bars. =Hunting= Hunting in Oregon is usually successful. From the: Pheasents, Ducks, White-Tailed-Deer, Fish, Raccoons, Squirrels, and other animals can be found plentiful and hunted in Ogle County. White-Tailed Deer can be very large in this area, with twelve and thirteen "pointers" found here. Don't forget about fishing on the Rock. Catfish, and many other freshwater river fish can be caught in the county. ==Chicago and area invasion== The Chicago sprawl has begun to reach areas east and just south of Oregon. A few subdivisions are being placed, and even an energy efficient house have been placed and planned for areas around "Daysville," "Lowden Park," and [[Flagg Center, Illinois]]. Quad City communters and people fleeing Chicago for country life are coming to Ogle County and surging the population to historic levels and rates. Locals are worried about a strain on the communities schools. =Weather and Climate= Very continental climates may be found across northern Illinois, and Oregon. With January highs reaching from 20-30F, and January lows anywhere from -5- 10F. On the other hand, High temperatures in July may occasionally reach 90F, but are usually in the middle 80s.
