Oregon Bach Festival

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Oregon Bach Festival is an annual celebration of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, held in Eugene, Oregon in late June and early July. It was co-founded by German conductor Helmuth Rilling and the former president of the American Choral Directors Association, Royce Saltzman, in 1970. Rilling and Saltzman are the artistic and executive directors, respectively. Rilling is also the conductor.

The festival hosts many concerts, ranging from orchestral, to choral, to taiji. It has featured musicians such as Jeffery Kahane and Robert Levin.

In 2006, Saltzman announced that he is stepping down from the Executive Director position. John Evans assumes the Executive Director position at the conclusion of the 2007 Festival.
