"There was probably a house at Ordsall by 1251 when William de Ferrers, Earl of Derby, exchanged the manor for land in Pendleton."
I've moved this from the History section to here because it seems to be inconsistent with the claim that Ordsall Hall is 820 years old. --Malleus Fatuarum 19:49, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
