[edit] Emperor of Korea, GCIE?

According to this website( http://www.4dw.net/royalark/Korea/korea8.htm ) the Emperor of Korea was made GCIE in 1900.

Why the British government decided to use this order? What, if any, was Kojong's connection with the Indian Empire? Mapple

Medals, etc, are still commonly given to foreign royalty and heads of state. The two Indian orders of chivalry created by the British had no Christian imagery or nomenclature: this probably made them more acceptable to Arab rulers and to the Emperor of Korea.
