Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio (ORE) is a Death Industrial music group from Sweden.

The band is composed of its founding member Tomas Pettersson, vocalist Rose-Marie Larsen, who replaced Chelsea Krook, and many other participate in their performances. The band's musical style has been described as "Apocalyptic folk". The name can be translated to "Order of the Rose and the Balance" (See Ordo Templi Orientis).

In its sombre lyrics, ORE combines seemingly incompatible polarities, such as war and sex, often using Catholic symbols adorned with sperm, blood, fire, etcetera. Other connotations are however used, like in Cocktails, Carnage, Crucifixion And Pornography (CCCP) opening with the national anthem of the Soviet Union. Obvious sources of inspiration are other well-known prophets of Dystopia; for example Aleister Crowley and William Blake.

The musical ambitions of the band seem to be to create a dark ambient soundscape. To this goal a wide range of instruments are used, including acoustic guitars, percussions, and piano, together with all sorts of sound-aggregating devices combined with projected imagery. Lyrics are delivered, typically by Petterson himself, in a performance including spoken word and traditional song.
