The Macau government confers medals of honours every year, which are classified into one Grand Lotus, one Golden Lotus, three Silver Lotus as well as a non-fixed number of medals of achievements for professional elite, organizations or government departments

The Macau honours system of civil decorations awarded by the government of the Macau Special Administrative Region of China (MSAR) includes:

  • Grand Medal of Lotus Flower, the highest award under the MSAR honours and awards system, is to recognise the selected person's life-long and highly significant contribution to the well-being of Macau.

People given this honour include:

  • Ma Man Kei, chairman of the Macao Chamber of Commerce
  • Tong Seng Chiu, former presidentof the Macao Federation of Workers' Union
  • Honourable Medal of Golden Lotus Flower is awarded to outstanding persons who have given very distinguished services to the community or who have rendered public or voluntary services of a very high degree of merit.

People given this honour include:


  • Honourable Medal of Silver Lotus Flower is awarded to persons who have taken a leading part in public affairs and/or voluntary work over a long period of time.
