Order of Saint Anthony (Ethiopia)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Order of Saint Anthony was an Ethiopian catholic chivalric order founded in 370 by the Negus known in the western world as Prester John of Ethiopia.
It is one of the oldest chivalric orders in the world, and was bestowed exclusively on clerics. Its members were considered part of an elite brotherhood. There were two different grades, that of the Knight Grand Cross (KGCA), and that of the Companion (CA).
It was later awarded, during the late Middle Ages, by kings and archbishops.
