Order of Rama

The Honourable Order of Rama (เครื่องราชอิสริยาภรณ์ อันมีศักดิ์ รามาธิบดี - krêuang râat ìt-sà-rí-yaa-pon an mee sàk raa-maa típ-dee) was established on 22 July 1918 (B.E. 2461) by King Rama VI of Siam (now Thailand), to be bestowed onto those who have rendered special military services either in peace or in wartime.

The Order consists of 6 classes

  • "Senangapati" (เสนางคะบดี - sày-naang ká-bà-dee) of the Honourable Order of Rama
Knight Grand Commander (1st Class)
Postnominal letters ส.ร.
Insignia consists of a pendant, on a black sash with red trims, worn over the right shoulder to the left hip. Also a star, worn on the left chest.
  • "Maha Yodhin" (มหาโยธิน - má-hăa yoh-tin) of the Honourable Order of Rama
Knight Commander (2nd Class)
Postnominal letters ม.ร.
Insignia consists of a pendant, worn on a silk band on the collar. Also a star, worn on the right chest.
  • "Yodhin" (โยธิน - yoh-tin) of the Honourable Order of Rama
Commander (3rd Class)
Postnominal letters ย.ร.
Insignia consists of a pendant, worn on a silk band on the collar.
  • "Asvin" (อัศวิน - àt-win) of the Honourable Order of Rama
Companion (4th Class)
Postnominal letters อ.ร.
Insignia consists of a pendant, worn on a silk band on the left chest.
  • Member of "The Rama Medal for Gallantry in Action" (เหรียญรามมาลา เข็มกล้ากลางสมร - rĭan raam-maa-laa kĕm glâa glaang sà-mŏn) of the Honourable Order of Rama
(5th Class)
Postnominal letters ร.ม.ก.
Insignia consists of a silver medal with bar.
  • Member of "The Rama Medal" (เเหรียญรามมาลา - rĭan raam-maa-laa) of the Honourable Order of Rama
(6th Class)
Postnominal letters ร.ม.
Insignia consists of a silver medal.
