Order of Excellence
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Order of Excellence is one of the six civil decorations of Jamaica which are awarded annually to "deserving citizens."[1] The Order of Excellence is the most recent honor to be created, having been brought into being in 2003. As of 2005 only one award has been given, to Thabo Mbeki, President of South Africa, during his visit to Jamaica in July 2003.
The Order of Excellence took over the function of the Order of Merit, which is now awarded to those "persons of notable achievement in particular fields of study".[1]
