Orconectes shoupi or Nashville Crayfish is a federal and state endangered crayfish that resides on Mill Creek in Davidson Co./Williamson Co, Tennessee. Horton Hobbs Jr. discovered this rare crayfish in the 1940's along with C.S Shoup, a Vanderbilt University professor and colleague. Orconectes shoupi is one of four endangered crayfish in the US. 95% of the crayfish in the US have their habitat in the southeast. The Nashville Crayfish is currently being threatened by development specifically at the mouth of the creek all the way to the headwaters.
