Orchidlands Estates is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hawaiʻi County, Hawaiʻi, United States. The population was 1,731 at the 2000 census.

Orchidlands Estates is located at 19°33′39″N, 155°0′45″W (19.560858, -155.012566)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 9.5 square miles (24.6 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 1,731 people, 587 households, and 413 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 182.3 people per square mile (70.4/km²). There were 668 housing units at an average density of 70.4/sq mi (27.1/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 37.38% White, 0.81% African American, 0.75% Native American, 20.34% Asian, 9.65% Pacific Islander, 0.64% from other races, and 30.44% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.15% of the population.

There were 587 households out of which 40.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.9% were married couples living together, 13.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5% were non-families. 22.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 2.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.95 and the average family size was 3.49.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 32.1% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 26.1% from 25 to 44, 25.8% from 45 to 64, and 7.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 115.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108.3 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $27,083, and the median income for a family was $31,290. Males had a median income of $32,045 versus $24,188 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $13,748. About 24.1% of families and 27.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 38.8% of those under age 18 and 18.9% of those age 65 or over.
